ANNOUNCES ICT TRADE MISSION TO AZERBAIJAN

WASHINGTON DC - The United States Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) invites U.S. information and communication technology companies to participate in ICT Trade Mission to Azerbaijan and at BakuTel 2013 ICT Expo. ICT Trade Mission is supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States, and Nar Mobile, a mobile telecommunications company of Azerbaijan as the mission’s main sponsor.

ICT Trade Mission to Azerbaijan offers U.S. information and communication technology companies an exceptional opportunity to explore business prospects in Azerbaijan and the Caspian region and form relationships with key local and regional contacts in Azerbaijan.

WHY AZERBAIJAN?

Azerbaijan, as one of the world's fastest-growing economies, increasingly gains a position of leadership in the strategic central Eurasian region. Being the second largest recipient of foreign investment after the oil, particularly with substantial investments from Turkey, United States, UK and Israel, Azerbaijan's ICT sector development is projected to grow at least fourfold over the next 10 years.

Large local and regional infrastructure projects, as well as joint participation in inbound and outbound investment projects together with private and public sector of Azerbaijan, offer major opportunities for U.S. businesses as well.

    COMPANY ELIGIBILITY & FINANCIAL SUPPORT

    U.S. trade delegation will be limited to no more than 15 senior representatives of the leading U.S. ICT firms. To qualify for financial support and to accompany this ICT Trade Mission, your business must be from the list of leading U.S. firms, specialized in information and communication technologies offering a U.S. product or service. Your business must also be well-established, involved in international trade for more than three years. 

    All applications will be subject to approval. Companies that do not meet the eligibility requirements may still apply. Eligibility for financial assistance will be assessed by USACC International Business Adviser. For full eligibility criteria please contact USACC.     TRAVEL: WHAT IS INCLUDED & WHAT IS NOT?

    While accommodation of mission members for four day stay in Azerbaijan is free of charge, Mission members are still required to book and cover their airfares, provided that the date and time of travel be coordinated with USACC for logistical purposes in Azerbaijan. Please note: A visa required for US citizens traveling to Azerbaijan that can take up to 3 weeks to process. USACC will provide assistance in obtaining a travel visa to Azerbaijan.

    AZERBAIJAN AND THE UNITED STATES: PARTNERS IN TRADE AND COMMERCE

    Azerbaijan enjoys being America’s biggest trade partner in the South Caucasus and has successfully pursued major mutually beneficial trade deals. For example, Azerbaijan signed a major contract with Boeing – worth $1 billion – for the purchase of eight civilian airplanes, including the Boeing 787 “Dreamliner.” In June 2010, Azerbaijan signed a contract with Virginia-based Orbital Sciences Corporation to design, build and deliver a state-of-the-art communications satellite. This contract is worth $205 million. The satellite was successfully launched in February 2013.

    Trade with Azerbaijan helps to support more than 11,000 jobs throughout the United States. The State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan has invested approximately $3 billion in the United States, including in the U.S. Treasury, Federal Home Loan Bank, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bonds, as well as in U.S. corporate debt and equities.
